Everybody I speak with is always so worried about where their website ranks in the search engines. To many times I speak with someone and they feel like their business is just going to sky rocket when they get onto that first page for a certain keyword they want to rank for. Yes rankings are important but they are not the reason why websites are successful. It is important for businesses and website owners to really understand that having a website rank does not equate to a successful business. Building a business online through a variety of proactive marketing efforts including search engine optimization is how you get your online business really growing.

Building an online business is simply that, a business. Finding loopholes in the search algorithm and pouncing on them does not help a website grow and prosper. It’s not a great secret, but you would be hard pressed to find any SEO or marketing company to give you their ‘secret’ ways to delivering a website into a search engine such as Google, in as little as a day or two. In fact you would be hard pressed really to find any comprehensive guide, studying the ways and wherefores of how to actually list a website in the natural organic listings so quickly.
Yes, we have all read the free study guides on how to submit a website, we have all been to the submission links of the major search engines and blasted our sites URL off into the never never world.
But, if you didn’t already know, and you probably didn’t if you have read this far – there are at least 100 different ways I can think of right now, on the spot, that can get a perfectly new URL actually listed in Google in a day, give or take a day!
These ways are free, with there being no cash involved you will be pleased to hear, and will certainly see your website up there in lights (well at least for your website name anyway). These are not ways or mechanisms to get top rankings, these are not way to suddenly drive hundreds and thousands of new visitors to your website. These are simply ways to get the site listed, without the need to use any free search engine submission link as provided by the almighty Google or Yahoo.

So, if you have your notepads and pens I shall begin:
1. Have you twittered or tweeted lately? Well start now, if you have not already got a Twitter account my suggestion is to sign up today. Get yourself a lovely Twitter name as your website address, and in your profile provide a lovely link to your URL. After this, go and find 50 people (in any industry – some people would say you must be focussed, but at the end of the day you just want your site listed – so find 50 people in any topic area), follow them and then sure as mustard within a few hours some of them will be following you back. Why doe this help? Because new Twitter accounts invariably get listed in record time, and the more people following you the higher the chances of that being picked up. Then your link to your website sees the spiders (that’s the search engine spiders by the way!) racing to it.
2. Free press release site, yes yes, you have heard it all before. Use press releases to get your website listed yarda yarda yarda. Well listen up, because I am going to give you one HUGE tip and recommendation, write yourself a nice little press release. It doesn’t matter if your English is bad, is worse than bad or is just downright awful. Simply do your best, right a nifty little announcement about your site going LIVE on such and such a date, what’s its about and how great it is. Make sure you provide links in the press release to your site, just 2 links will be more than enough. Then go and search for some “free press release” submission sites and deliver your brand spanking new announcement release to about 10 of these free PR sites. Don’t pay a dime if your intention is just to get your site listed, you don’t actually want the publicity – you just want the listing, and this really does work.
3. Got any buddies with websites, can you buy them a beer for a link? If you know anyone else with a website that has a fair few visitors ask them to put up a link to your website until it gets listed. This is a tried and tested method – and the more buddies the better!

4. Youtube.com, no you don’t have to upload that latest family video. You can create some new videos using some of Windows own tools! A few graphics created to promote your product, created into a video, uploaded to YouTube.com with a nice link to your URL at the side – lovely.
I could go on, but I think you will find that implanted correctly, selecting just 3 of the above 4 recommendations will safely see your site listed in a couple of days. There are many more variations to the above methods, and with a little thought you can no doubt figure these out yourself – but to train your thought, think Dailymotion and Myspace and all the other sites that follow the same theme and come in between.
If you are a fan of search engine submission links provided for free by the search engines, then there of course is absolutely no harm in using them. And you could of course you always pay a company to do it for you, but if you want to show all your friends and colleagues just how clever you are at getting your domain name listed so quickly just give the above a shot….

A bid by liquidators to get an arrest warrant for Firepower boss

A bid by liquidators to get an arrest warrant for Firepower boss Tim Johnston has been stalled until next week.
Lawyers for the liquidators of Firepower applied for a warrant for Mr Johnston's arrest on Thursday after he failed to appear in the Federal Court in Perth to be publicly examined over the collapse of his company.
More than 1,000 investors in Firepower lost a total of up to $100 million when the company was wound up last year after Mr Johnston had fled the country.
Mr Johnston's lawyer Tim Carmody SC appeared on his behalf via videolink from the Federal Court in Brisbane.
Mr Carmody said he had only been given instructions by Mr Johnston on Thursday and requested 21 days to seek affidavits from medical practitioners who have provided medical certificates citing he has a suspected heart condition.
Mr Johnston understood he needed to be publicly examined but his health prevented him from flying and he held concerns for his personal safety, Mr Carmody said.
Justice Antony Siopis refused the 21-day adjournment and ordered Mr Carmody to file affidavits on Tuesday ahead of a hearing on the arrest warrant on Wednesday.
Mr Johnston will have to undergo a medical examination in Queensland by a doctor nominated by the liquidator.
Lawyer for the liquidator Richard Douglas requested the right to cross-examine the people who give affidavits on Mr Johnston's behalf.
The hearing will be held in Perth with a videolink to Brisbane.Construction firm Leighton Holdings says it is owed money on a few separate Dubai building projects, but the situation is not new and that it is confident of recovering the money."We are confident we will recover the moneys owing but the timing is uncertain," a company spokesman said today. He did not give details on the size or the nature of the debts owing.He added that the halt in payments was as a result of the global financial crisis and had been discussed at the company's annual results in August. The projects have not been named.Leighton is majority owned by German construction group Hochtief.

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida - A federal probe of Chinese drywall has broadened because a small number of homeowners are reporting that American-made drywall is causing some of the same problems: a sickening, sulfurous stench and corroded pipes and wiring.
"We are not limited in the scope of our investigation to just Chinese drywall," said Scott Wolfson, spokesman for the Consumer Products Safety Commission, which is conducting the largest investigation in its history after thousands of homeowners complained and filed lawsuits.
The vast majority of complaints still center on China-made gypsum board imported during the recent U.S. housing boom, when domestic building materials were in short supply. And the commission's investigation is focused mainly on the imported drywall, Wolfson said.But sporadic reports are surfacing from owners of homes built with American drywall, and the symptoms they report are similar to those reported with the Chinese drywall: a rotten-egg odor that makes occupants sick, corrosion of copper pipes, and ruined TVs and air conditioners.
"We've got a huge problem here, and we just need helAlthough Brincku has not sued, several other lawsuits have now been filed against American drywall manufacturers, including National Gypsum and Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific Corp.
Georgia-Pacific declined to comment on the litigation, but spokesman James Malone said the company had heard no such complaints until now.
Attorney Brian Warwick, who is suing Georgia-Pacific in federal court on behalf of two Florida homeowners, said his clients also heard the reports about Chinese drywall and assumed their homes were built with the imported materials.p," said George Brincku, 48, who bought his southwest Florida house in 2004 and almost immediately began noticing the odd smell, the corrosion of wires and headaches.
When he saw reports about Chinese drywall, he assumed that was the problem with his house — until he called the contractor who installed it.
"I have all 100 percent American-made drywall," Brincku said.
He sent samples to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which found that the wallboard from Brincku's home contained 50 percent gypsum and 50 percent cellulose, an organic compound. Drywall should contain mostly gypsum.
Researchers do not know for certain what causes the chemical reactions, but an MIT scientist said the mixture of gypsum and cellulose in Brincku's wallboard, combined with the humid atmosphere in Florida, was releasing sulfurous gases, causing corrosion of copper, brass and silver.
"The only solution is removal of the drywall," Thomas Eagar, an MIT professor of materials engineering, wrote in his report. He did not return a call from The Associated Press.
Most of the drywall in Brincku's home was made by Charlotte, North Carolina-based National Gypsum, which said its own testing found the material from the house contained just 4 percent cellulose.
"We absolutely don't know how you could make wallboard with 50 percent cellulose. It just simply would not hold together," spokeswoman Nancy Spurlock said. "We have been producing wallboard for 85 years in the United States, and we have never had a problem" similar to the Chinese drywall complaints.Although Brincku has not sued, several other lawsuits have now been filed against American drywall manufacturers, including National Gypsum and Atlanta-based Georgia-Pacific Corp.

Abu Dhabi's ruling Al Nahyan family has been more conservative

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates - Just a year after the global downturn derailed Dubai's explosive growth, the city is now so swamped in debt that it's asking for a six-month reprieve on paying its bills — causing a drop on world markets Thursday and raising questions about Dubai's reputation as a magnet for international investment.
The fallout came swiftly and was felt globally after Wednesday's statement that Dubai's main development engine, Dubai World, would ask creditors for a "standstill" on paying back its $60 billion debt until at least May. The company's real estate arm, Nakheel — whose projects include the palm-shaped island in the Gulf — shoulders the bulk of money due to banks, investment houses and outside development contractors.
In total, the state-backed networks nicknamed Dubai Inc. are $80 billion in the red and the emirate needed a bailout earlier this year from its oil-rich neighbor Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.Markets took the news badly — with the Dubai woes and the continued fall of the U.S. dollar giving investors twin worries. Dubai's move raised concerns about debt across the Gulf Region. Prices to insure debt from Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain all rose by double-digit percentages Thursday, according to data from CMA DataVision.
In Europe, the FTSE 100, Germany's DAX and the CAC-40 in France opened sharply lower. Earlier in Asia, the Shanghai index sank 119.19 points, or 3.6 percent, in the biggest one-day fall since Aug. 31. Hong Kong's Hang Seng shed 1.8 percent to 22,210.41.
Wall Street was closed for the Thanksgiving holiday and most markets in the Middle East were silent because of a major Islamic feast.
"Dubai's standstill announcement ... was vague and it remains difficult to discern whether the call for a standstill will be voluntary," said a statement from the Eurasia Group, a Washington-based research group that assesses political and financial risk for foreign investors interested in Dubai.
"If it is not, Dubai World will be going into default and that will have more serious negative repercussions for Dubai's sovereign debt, Dubai World and market confidence in the UAE in general," the statement added.
Credit crunchDubai became the Gulf's biggest credit crunch victim a year ago. But its ruler, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, had continually dismissed concerns over the city-state's liquidity and claims it overreached during the good times.
When asked about the debt, he confidently assured reporters in a rare meeting two months ago that "we are all right" and "we are not worried," leaving details of a recovery plan — if such a plan exists — to everyone's guess.
Then, earlier this month, he told Dubai's critics to "shut up."
"He needs to produce a recovery plan that will be respected by those who want to do business with Dubai," said Simon Henderson, a Gulf and energy specialist at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. "If he does not do it right, Dubai will be a sad place."After months of denial that the economic downturn even touched the glitzy city-state, the Dubai government earlier this year showed signs of trying to deal with the financial fallout that has halted dozens of projects and touched off an exodus of expatriate workers.
In February, it raised $10 billion in a hastily arranged bond sale to the United Arab Emirates central bank, which is based in Abu Dhabi.
The deal — seen by many as Abu Dhabi's bailout of Dubai — was part of a $20 billion bond program to help Dubai meet its debt obligationsOn Wednesday, the Dubai Finance Department announced the emirate raised another $5 billion by selling bonds — all taken by two banks controlled by Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi's ruling Al Nahyan family has been more conservative with its spending, investing oil profits into infrastructure, culture and state institutions. During Dubai's real estate bonanza, the Nahyans saw their flashy neighbor race ahead with development plans and tourism plans that had plenty of hype but few details on how they would be pulled off.
Some did materialize. The more than 2,600-foot Burj Dubai is scheduled to open in January as the world's tallest building. But many other projects, including a tower even taller than the Burj Dubai and satellite cities in the desert, are still just blueprints.

The couple who crashed a White House state dinner were being filmed that day by a camera crew connected with a reality television program, although none of the filming took place on White House grounds, a spokeswoman for the program's network said Thursday.
The couple, Michaele and Tareq Salahi, gained access to the dinner President Barack Obama hosted for Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday, although they had not been invited, prompting a security review by the Secret Service, which acknowledged that procedures were not followed properly.
Bravo Media confirmed late Thursday that Michaele Salahi is being considered as a participant in the upcoming "The Real Housewives of D.C." program and on the day of the dinner was being filmed around Washington by Half Yard Productions, the producer of the program. Half Yard's cameras were not inside the White House. They filmed the couple preparing for the event," Johanna Fuentes, vice president, communications, for Bravo Media, said in an e-mail. She said the Salahis "informed Half Yard that they were invited, the producers had no reason to believe otherwise."
Fuentes referred further questions to the couple's attorney and publicist.
The White House on Thursday refused comment on the Salahis and referred all calls to the Secret Service.
A Secret Service investigation of the security breach, now under way, will help determine whether the Salahis might be in some legal jeopardy, although the main focus of the review is to try to find out how someone could attend such a high-profile event on the South Lawn of the White House without having been invited.
Paul Morrison, a Virginia attorney who represented the couple in the past but has not spoken to them since the dinner, told The Associated Press earlier Thursday that they shouldn't need legal help.
"They just went to a party. They didn't do anything wrong," Morrison said. "I know them. I'm unaware of any reason they need representation right nowEdwin Donovan, a Secret Service spokesman, said Obama was never in any danger because the Salahis went through the same security screening for weapons as the 300-plus people actually invited to the dinner.
Donovan said the officers at the checkpoint involved in clearance for the dinner did not follow proper procedure when the Salahis arrived and it was determined they had not been invited. But he declined to reveal anything the Secret Service knows about what happened next.
During President George W. Bush's administration, it was standard procedure to have someone from the White House social office at the gate for state dinners and other events with large groups of visitors, according to a former senior Bush aide who spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to be seen as criticizing the Obama White House.
The social office is most knowledgeable about the guest list and could have been called in case of any uncertainty, this official said.
